The city’s alive with magic!

Cardiff celebrates Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday with ‘The City Of The Unexpected’

The City S Alive With Magic
18 September

The event brought together thousands of performers and tens of thousands of spectators in a city-wide celebration of the much loved children’s author who was born in Cardiff, 100 years ago.

The finale to the day’s festivities took place on City Hall Lawns with the one of the highlights being a giant helium filled peach floating over the audience, with James suspended underneath, performing acrobatics and waving to the audience below.

To accompany the spectacle, we filled the air with a blizzard of bubbles from 4 high powered bubble machines, positioned around the site. The jets of bubbles were blasted 25m into the air from high powered fans before drifting over the audience’s heads.

Finally, to accompany the wedding scene, we filled the air with a cascade of confetti petals launched from two Stadium Duos and four Bigshot cannons, bringing the event to a magical close.
